Décès de Jay Dee a.k.a. J Dilla

James Yancey aka Jay Dee aka J Dilla - 1974 - 2006. Rest In Peace.

Triste coincidence, alors que son nouvel album "Donuts" est sorti cette semaine, James Yancey aka Jay Dee aka J Dilla est décèdé aujourd'hui vendredi 10 février dans un hopital de Los Angeles. Le producteur de Detroit souffrait depuis 2 ans de graves problèmes rénaux qui l'avaient contraint à l'hospitalisation (c'est d'ailleurs en partie à l'hopital que l'album "Donuts" a été conçu). Après avoir annulé sa tournée européenne en septembre, Jay Dee était finalement venu en novembre dernier pour un concert au Nouveau Casino à Paris.

Ce producteur de génie s'était fait connaitre au sein The Ummah, l'équipe de producteurs de A Tribe Called Quest (il avait produit 5 titres sur l'album "Beats, Rhymes & Life" sorti en 1996 sur Jive Records, 8 titres sur l'album "Love Movement" sorti en 1998), ainsi que derrière les classiques de The Pharcyde "Runnin'" et "Drop" en 1996, "Stake Is High" de De La Soul la même année sans oublier les deux albums de son groupe Slum Village, "Fan-Tas-Tic Vol. 1" (1996) et "Fantastic Vol. 2" (2000) ainsi que le Ep "Best Kept Secret" sous le nom de J-88 (2000). Il sort en 2001 son premier album solo intitulé "Welcome 2 Detroit" sur le label anglais BBE. On peut citer dans sa discographie gargantuesque, ses productions sur l'album "Amplified" (11 titres) de Q-Tip (1999), 10 titres produits pour le fabuleux "Like Water For Chocolate" de Common en 2000 (il forme l'équipe de producteurs The Soulquarians avec ?uestlove de The Roots, James Poyser et D'Angelo), son album avec Madlib (Jaylib "Champion Sound" sorti en 2003), des titres pour chacun des albums de Busta Rhymes depuis son premier opus "The Coming" en 1996 ou encore pour D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Phat Kat, Frank'n'Dank, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Black Star, Phife Dawg, Spacek, MED, Oh No, Platinum Pied Pipers, Proof (D12), Bizarre (D12), Bilal, Guru, Mad Skillz, Keith Murray, Macy Gray, Vivianne Green, Bahamadia, Lucy Pearl, N'Dea Davenport, Royce The 5'9, Chino XL...

sinon j'ai entendu dire qu'il s'était suicidé car il en aurait eu marre de ses problèmes reinaux
